What is Nymalize?
Nymalize is a calcium channel blocker that is used to prevent brain damage caused by reduced blood flow to the brain resulting from aneurysm (a dilated or ruptured blood vessel in the brain).
Nymalize may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Warnings
Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any you start or stop using. Many drugs can interact, and some drugs should not be used together.
The liquid from a Nymalize capsule should never be injected through a needle into the body, or death may occur.
Before taking this medicine
You should not use Nymalize if you are allergic to it.
Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used with Nymalize. Your doctor may change your treatment plan if you also use:
antifungal medicine--itraconazole, ketoconazole; o
antiviral medicine to treat HIV/AIDS--indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir.
Tell your doctor if you have ever had:
cirrhosis or other liver disease; or
heart disease; or
high blood pressure (especially if you take blood pressure medication).
It is not known whether Nymalize will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
You should not breastfeed while using this medicine.
How should I take Nymalize?
Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
Nymalize is usually taken for 21 days in a row. Follow your doctor's dosing instructions very carefully.
Take Nymalize on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
Measure liquid medicine carefully. Use the dosing syringe provided, or use a medicine dose-measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).
Swallow the capsule whole with water or other liquid. Avoid grapefruit juice.
