What is Parsabiv?

Parsabiv is used to treat overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism) in adults with chronic kidney failure who are on dialysis.

Parsabiv may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Warnings

Before you receive Parsabiv, tell your doctor if you have taken cinacalcet within the past 7 days.

Before taking this medicine

You should not be treated with Parsabiv if you are allergic to it.

Tell your doctor if you have ever had:

It is not known whether Parsabiv will harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.

You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.

How is Parsabiv given?

Parsabiv is given as an infusion into a vein. A healthcare provider will give you this injection as part of your dialysis treatment.

Parsabiv is usually given 3 times per week at the end dialysis.

Your doctor may occasionally change your dose amount or schedule.
