What is this product used for?

Sour cherry may help with gout. It may also help improve memory and help you sleep better.

What are the precautions when taking this product?

  • Always check with your doctor before you use a natural product. Some products may not mix well with drugs or other natural products.

  • Be sure to tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan on getting pregnant, or are breastfeeding. You will need to talk about the benefits and risks of using this natural product.

  • Do not use if you are allergic to cherries, apricots, or plums.

  • This product may interfere with some lab tests. Be sure to talk with your doctor about this and all drugs you are taking.

  • Take extra care if you are taking drugs to help with pain, swelling, or inflammation. These are drugs like acetaminophen and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil), or naproxen (Naprosyn or Aleve).

  • Take extra care if you are taking drugs called MAO inhibitors. These are drugs like isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), and tranylcypromine (Parnate).

  • This product may cause you to be sleepy. Take extra care driving and doing tasks where you need to be alert.

  • Take extra care and check with your doctor if you have:

    • Kidney problems

    • Diabetes

What should I watch for?

  • Feeling tired or sleepy

When do I need to call the doctor?

  • Signs of a very bad reaction. These include wheezing; chest tightness; fever; itching; bad cough; blue skin color; seizures; or swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat. Go to the ER right away.

  • Signs of kidney problems. These include not able to pass urine, change in how much urine is passed, or a big weight gain.

  • Signs of high blood sugar. These include sleepiness, blurry eyesight, passing urine more often, increased thirst or hunger, unexplained weight loss, breath has a fruity sweet smell, upset stomach and throwing up, dizziness, or passing out.
