What is Venelex?
Venelex (for the skin) is a combination medicine used to treat skin wounds, bed sores, diabetic skin ulcers, and other skin conditions resulting from decreased blood flow or skin grafts.
Venelex helps reduce odor and creates a protective layer over skin wounds.
Venelex may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Warnings
Follow all directions on your medicine label and package. Tell each of your healthcare providers about all your medical conditions, allergies, and all medicines you use.
Before taking this medicine
You should not use Venelex if you are allergic to balsam Peru, castor oil, or petroleum jelly (Vaseline).
Ask a doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not use Venelex on a child without medical advice.
How should I use Venelex?
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Do not take by mouth. Topical medicine is for use only on the skin.
Wash your hands before and after applying this medicine.
Apply a thin layer of medicine to the wound. Balsam Peru and castor oil is usually applied at least 2 times daily. Follow your doctor's instructions.
After applying the medicine, you may cover the wound with a bandage dressing, or leave the wound open to the air. Your doctor will tell you whether you should cover the wound or not.
If you need to remove the medicine, gently wash it off with water.
Call your doctor if the condition you are treating with this medicine does not improve, or if it gets worse while using this product.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not allow the medicine to freeze.
What happens if I miss a dose?
Apply the medicine as soon as you can, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not apply two doses at one time.
