Uses for benzocaine

Benzocaine is used to relieve pain and irritation caused by sore throat, sore mouth, or canker sores.

Benzocaine is available without a prescription. Your doctor may have special instructions on the proper use and dose for your medical problem.

Before using benzocaine

Allergies

Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to benzocaine or any other medicines. Pediatric

Because of benzocaine's toxicity, use in children under 2 years of age is not recommended.
